Diagnostic Services
At Palm Primary Care, we prioritize the accessibility of skilled and compassionate doctors for all your medical concerns. Our dedicated providers may recommend additional diagnostic testing to identify the underlying causes of your symptoms. With these valuable insights, your PCP can implement the most effective treatment.
One of the advantages of being a patient here is the convenience of in-house diagnostic tests. You won't have to go elsewhere for the most common tests; we offer them right here.
Diagnostic Testing
Timely diagnosis leads to prompt treatment and care. By providing diagnostic services in our clinics, we can quickly identify your condition and associated symptoms. Please note that test availability may vary by location.
An echocardiogram, commonly known as an "echo," employs ultrasound technology to create a real-time image of your heart. This noninvasive and painless procedure involves a provider gently maneuvering a hand-held device across your chest, capturing sound waves that bounce off internal organs. By visualizing your heart's functioning, an echo is useful in evaluating symptoms like shortness of breath, chest pain, or leg swelling.
Measuring the electrical activity of your heart, an electrocardiogram (EKG) can identify arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, and evidence of a previous heart attack. Small adhesive patches will be placed on your chest, arms, and legs during this noninvasive and painless procedure. As you lie still, these patches record the electrical signals responsible for your heartbeat. Your doctor may recommend an EKG if you're experiencing heart palpitations, dizziness, chest pain, or shortness of breath.
Diagnostic tests play a crucial role in assessing health conditions and guiding medical treatments. Among the most used diagnostic tests are blood tests and urinalysis, both of which involve analyzing samples in a laboratory. The specific tests performed on these samples depend on the information that the doctor is seeking.
Blood tests are utilized to detect a wide range of health concerns, including anemia, cancer, and diabetes. On the other hand, urine tests are beneficial in identifying kidney problems such as kidney stones, liver disease, infections like urinary tract infections (UTIs), and diabetes. Additionally, blood or urine tests may serve as a means to monitor the effectiveness of ongoing treatments and medications.
Some other conditions that are evaluated using blood tests include:
- Heart disease
- High cholesterol (HDL, LDL, and triglyceride levels)
- Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Infections
- Kidney problems
- Liver disease
- Thyroid disorders
Ultrasound is a well-known diagnostic imaging technique used primarily to monitor fetal development in pregnant women. However, this procedure, which utilizes sound waves to produce images of internal organs and tissues, can also aid in diagnosing various medical conditions such as blood flow problems, gallstones and gallbladder disease, heart disease, joint inflammation, kidney stones, prostate issues, thyroid disorders, tumors, urinary tract infections (UTIs), and even guide needle biopsies.
